California Legal Wilsons - A compiled list
I was interested in finding out what exactly the features are for the California version of Wilson 1911s, and how the various models compared to each other. I compiled the information based on their catalog and website (unfortunately some items conflict between the two). The prices listed are MSRP as of 12/2009.
By far, Wilson was the most clear as to what each pistol has. I listed the part numbers for the base model and have some notes on the very RIGHT for differences on the "California Only" version (like color, type of safety, or extended mag well). http://s48.photobucket.com/albums/f2...Features-1.jpg This picture is taken from a Ledger size (11"x17") PDF, of an Excel spreadsheet. If I have made some error, hopefully someone will point it out. Of course the usual disclaimer: a. I don't work for Wilson Combat, b. I don't work for an FFL or gun dealer., c. I receive nothing from the sale of any of these firearms., d. I don't guarantee the accuracy of this list, do you own research before buying one! |

the department of justice has the final say
Here is the link to the California Department of Justice Roster of Handguns.
http://certguns.doj.ca.gov/ The Roster is updated daily depending upon manufacturer additions or if a particular model is not renewed by the manufacturer If the hand gun used to be on the list but is no longer on the list you can only sell it in California via a private party transfer. You won't be able to get it from an out of state FFL even if it used to be on the list. the following is a cut and paste of the Wilson models off of the DOJ list as of this morning. note each model has an expiration date which Wilson can choose to renew. ADP (Black) (WC-ADP) / Steel, Polymer Pistol 3.75" 9mm 2/14/2010 Sentinel Tactical (Black) (WS-T-ACA) / Steel Pistol 3.75" .45 ACP 12/29/2010 CQB (Black/Green) (WCQBC-T-A-CA) / Carbon Steel Pistol 4" .45 ACP 2/26/2011 Professional (Black) (WPM-A-ASCA) / Steel Pistol 4" .45 ACP 2/14/2011 Professional Elite (Black)(WPE-A-ASCA) / Steel Pistol 4" .45 ACP 2/14/2011 Stealth (Black) (WSDS-A-ACA) / Steel Pistol 4.1" .45 ACP 12/19/2010 Classic Ambi (Black/Silver) (WC-A-TTSCA) / Steel Pistol 5" .45 ACP 12/29/2010 CQB (Black/Green) (WCQB-T-A-CA) / Carbon Steel Pistol 5" .45 ACP 2/26/2011 CQB, Ambi, AT Tac Lt Rl (Blk) (CQBLR-FSR-45) / Steel Pistol 5" .45 ACP 5/29/2010 CQB, Ambi, AT Tac Lt Rl (Blk) (WCQB-AL-CA) / Steel Pistol 5" .45 ACP 12/29/2010 KZ-45 (Black) (WKZ-T-PA-CA) / Carbon Steel, Polymer Pistol 5" .45 ACP 2/26/2010 Super Grade (Blue/Stainless) (WSG-A-TT CA) / Steel Pistol 5" .45 ACP 12/19/2010 Tactical Elite, Ambi (Black) (WTE-A-A-CA) / Carbon Steel Pistol 5" .45 ACP 2/13/2011 Tactical Super Grade (Black/Gray) (WTSG-A-ACA) / Steel Pistol 5" .45 ACP 12/19/2010 Combat Protector (Silver) (WPS-A-SS CA) / Stainless Steel Pistol 5'" .45 ACP 11/16/2010 |

That's funny...I did the exact same thing when I was trying to figure out which Wilson to buy. It was the only way I could sort out the countless variations. I always wondered why Wilson didn't put something like this on their website. It would save customers an enormous amount of time and would probably cut down on the number of questions they receive.

Wilson has had their CA models list on their website for quite some time:
http://www.wilsoncombat.com/californ...d_firearms.htm I just always go to the CA DOJ list since that's what the FFL will use. |

If a new CA resident
If moving to CA from another state I can qualify as an importer with already owned handguns. Do my handguns need to be on the sale list to import, or simply comply with "otherwise legal" as in regards to high capacity magazines, extra pistol grips etc.? My understanding, as read, is the second case. Am I interpreting correctly?
