Winchester 185gr. STHP,good for PD?

I like shoting Winchester 185gr. STHP rounds in my Kimber Classic Custom Royal at the shooting range, but are they effective for personal defense? Any opinions appreciated.

I carry STHP 185s in my Wilson Protector. Tests performed by www.firearmstactical.com show penetration of about 10 to 11 inches with the hollowpoint cavity plugged or not. This should be enough penetration for all but the biggest, fattest BGs! The round is as reliable as ball, but, it is not crimped. I hand cycle the first round to avoid pushing the round into the case.

I have used them many times over in a Ruger P-90 and others. accurate, loaded pretty hot it seems, and good expansion in gelatin.. Also, they make for a good HD round because have limited penetration in building materials compared to many other loads.
