Free 1 yr memberships . Sign up online .

NRA offers free memberships

The National Rifle Association is offering free one-year memberships to all troops on active duty as a token of appreciation for their service.

The promotion, which began earlier this month, is open to full-time service members and reservists called up to active duty. A membership usually costs $35. Troops who sign up for the membership will be asked for their name, address, rank and e-mail address, but not Social Security or credit card information.

They will have to provide additional personal information if they decide to renew their membership next year. The membership also comes with a free subscription to one of the organization’s three magazines: American Hunter, American Rifleman, or America's First Freedom.

To sign up for the free membership, visit http://www.nra.org/supportourtroops

My son is on active duty in the Army in Bremerton, Washington State. Yeah, I know it's a Navy Base but he is doing something there in the Army??? He might be going to Iraq but I am hoping not, (can't let him know I thought that).
Anyway, he is going to be promoted to Sgt. in about 10 days. Does he qualify for the free membership?
I don't want to forward it to him til I'm sure.
Thanks

I don't know why not--my understanding is that he doesn't have to be deployed to be eligible, just active duty.

Just followed the hyperlink and it says us Reservists (and the Nasty Girls, too) get the same offer.

Edit: Just signed my wife and myself up. I hope she likes the surprise.

Pretty much, active duty just means you're currently serving, regardless of location.

This means if you're in right now... regardless of branch, location, or rank. You get a free membership.

That's a pretty big show of support there.

Ha! small world I guess lol. I was stationed at Fob Normandy which was north of Anaconda back in 2005. Anaconda has all the amenitie's of a resort compared to Normandy lol. We used to be SOOO jealous of those that lived there lol.

On a serious note.. I know that area well and your friend has my prayer's. I hope he come's home with all finger's and toes and he has a great homecoming. as my old unit used to say "our country not ourselves" and that is what your friend is doing. God bless!!

I made my last payment to become a life member a while back. They then asked if I was willing to spend another $25.00 to give an over seas stationed troop a years membership. I the NRA gets the money for the troops from members here in the States. I had no problem spending another $25.00. I spent $1,000.00 for the life time membership. I would gladly do anything for the troops and help what the NRA is fighting against with next falls election. I also like to give money to the Fisher house for families that have loved ones back here in the states recouping and they have a place to stay because of the Fisher House donation.

A great program for those that put their life on the line. I retired in Jan. 1987 and I miss it more often than not.

I think the men and women who have served over seas should be offered a lifetime membership free of charge

Nice offer. The NRA does membership campaigns like this all the time. In this case, guns are back in the political spotlight and with an election coming up, this is a way the NRA shows strength in numbers and rams that down politicians throats.

It is very important that everyone becomes a member free or for the $25.00 for one year. I felt that it was so important this year and possibly next year and the ability for a standing president to make an executive order banning the sale of handguns to legal people with permits, I purchased a life time membership. The NRA is the biggest lobbyist that we have in Washington looking out for our rights. Please get the membership and for people that buy a lifetime and pay an extra $25.00 to pay for an over sea armed service person.
Another thing that is a way to make donations is when shopping on line at Midway USA you can round up your change on your order to go to the NRA.
In order to enjoy our right to enjoy shooting in competition or hunting or just going to the range and shoot, we need to help support the NRA!!!!!
