Colt Commander Modifications

Well, I got my Colt Commander Back from Dave Severns and I couldn’t be happier.
The pistol will be used for carry and if I ever get back into IDPA that as well.
Here’s the list of what I had done. I would like to thank Dave again for his outstanding
craftsmanship, patience and advice.:)

Short Solid Aluminum trigger
Trigger Job and Trigger installation 4#
EGW Barrel Bushing
Fit and Finish EGW Barrel Bushing
45 Degree Target Crown
Flush cut slide stop and countersink frame
Novak Extreme Duty FO adjustable sights
Machine and install sights
Checker and high cut frame 25 lpi
New CMC grip safety
ED Brown Bobtail Mainspring Housing 25 lpi
Reliability Package
Hard Hat Treatment
De-horning, level II
C&S Tactical II ignition Control Parts
ED Brown Tactical Thumb Safety Fitted and Blended
Blend Maxwell
Ed Brown Extended Ejector, fitted
Bobtail frame and blend mainspring housing
Sarge’s Grips
Wolff Recoil and firing pin springs
Brownells grip screw bushing
EGW oversized firing pin stop, fitted

Zowies! That is one pretty gun. And you are actually going to carry it? How much did all those mods cost?

For carry I have a plane jane Commander I bought new at the end of 2007. The only thing I changed out were the nice wood grips that came on it for some tough and cheap grips from Midway because carry guns get dinged and the grips seem to get the worst of it. It is still 100% at over 4K rounds.



For show and tell and shooting every now and again I picked up a Gold Cup Commander lightly shot in the box. The only change I made was again the grips. This time for some of Sarges Redwood Burl grips.
