New guy here looking to get a 9mm 1911. Looked at the Loaded Target-want a target model-wondering how those of you who have a 9mm like them. Right now a toss up between SA, Kimber and STI. I didn't realize until I started snooping around here that SAs are made in Brazil. Convince me that's not a bad thing.

this is an old article, but it shows what an STI Trojan can do against a SACS built gun.

I like the hell out of my Loaded Target!

i liked my DaWG.
different guns with different purposes.
I traded my DW for a STI Tactical 4.15 for carry. I liked the DW, but i like 2011's more.

if comparing the PM-9 to the Trojan, i'd pick the Trojan because it's carbon steel. My 9mm Loaded had a decent fit when it was new, but it's loosened up quite a bit.

I guess you don't have much of a problem changing mags on that one! As always, great looking guns Quack. My daughter has taken my DW Guardian in 9mm for herself so I am now looking for a 9mm. I appreciate the STI suggestion I will start looking. For now I am breaking in a Kimber Solo 9mm and it is more work than fun. I also bought a Ruger LC9 that I am considering for carry when biking. I will keep either the Solo or the LC9 for biking and very small carry but I really want a nice mid-full framed 9mm as well. STI might fit that need just perfect.

I have a stainless loaded target. I only had one issue with it - for a target gun, the trigger was nothing to write home about. The pull was 5.5 lbs and it had a little creep. I finally took it to my local gunsmith and for 50 bucks I now have a true target 9mm. The barrel to bushing and barrel to slide fit are nice and tight. It the most accurate 9mm I have ever shot. (And I've shot more than a few)

Yep, love my STIs
I prefer carbon over stainless because (IME) carbon can be fit tighter than SS and stays tighter longer. Also if you look at DW stainless guns, they had issues galling.

My SS 9mm Loaded started out fit pretty well, but now there is quite a bit of play in.it. the barrel bushing wasnt fit well, so I refit a new one. I was wanting more from the trigger, so I replaced it. So for just a little bit more (today) I would get a Trojan, but I got my Loaded at a good price years ago.

I've been cruising the STI web site and think a Trojan or Range Master would be the way I would go. This is all very confusing. Everyone has their picks. I'm getting more bad info on the Kimbers than the others. I have never seen an STI except for a Spartan and that did not impress me. I hope going up a notch or 2 gives you a lot more quality. SAs get mixed reviews and the DW PM9 is also appealing, though I've never seen one of their products either. At first I thought STIs were American made but that does not appear to be the case.

All I can say is make them field strip the Springfield and examine the lug and hood fit in the slide before you buy it. Mine is terrible, but I bought it used. The pistol was like new and I have to believe it left the factory like that. I would buy the Trojan if I had a do over. Also the inside finish on the stainless parts on the Sprinfield are inferior to my Sig 1911 Target. Fit and finish are the primary differences in 1911s of different brands. Unfortunately, the the excessive clearances in the barrel lugs and hood produce poor accuracy. It will take a new barrel to fix it and my stainless barrel is like new. Unfortunately I didn't buy this pistol new and it has no warranty on poor workmanship.

I am very happy with my Loaded Target 9mm. I recently put it through a test -- firing 2,070 rounds without cleaning or lube. No stoppages, malfunctions, or breakages. Metalform mags were used. Normally I lube my guns about every 300-500 rounds, but this was for the purpose of determining the gun's reliability.

I did replace the ILS mainspring housing with a S&A combination magwell/MSH. I also installed a 12lb recoil spring and 24lb mainspring, along with new grip panels.

I just picked up this Springfield 9 MM Target last week. I've been after one for a while, but no luck with availability. A dealer near me got 5 of them in so I jumped. I also got a Stainless Mil-Spec .45 with it. Here it is. I'm hoping to get to the range next week.

I've heard nothing but good things about Springfield 9mms. Just got mine back from them after doing some repair work. Bought it 2nd hand and the original owner mucked it up. Looking forward to shooting it next week.
