I too carry a commander, but if I had begun training with a full size 1911, I would be carrying that. Not a lot of difference between them in my opinion.

The Ruger is a very nice pistol, heavy duty. But I settled on a Stainless El Patron in 45 Colt. The reason was I wanted a pistol that was close to a SAA. Real fun guns.
