I would think "vetting" people who are not suspected of committing a crime would trample on more than the 2D Amendment and might be breaking the law (federal) depending on what database is used.

My primary carry is a 4" 1911 and I use a VM2 or a WC Lo-Profile. Both are comfortable for all day carry. The Lo-Profile is a great holster - can't speak about the Lo-Profile II.
