I've used the safety on a 1911 for almost forty years and train with it on, so it's no big deal. Wasn't the original design without a thumb safety and the Army made JB add one?

Since reading this thread, I've dug mine out and have been stretching it out. I think I'll use it. It is a comfortable holster with the tail piece.

Remove the slide, the recoil spring lay the slide on a solid surface, sights down and press down on the barrel at the chamber end. Should be no spring in the bbl. Barrel must be in battery position...

Get the 45, makes a bigger hole. There is however more noticeable recoil with todays Tact loads. But with practice you will be fine. I put Davidson grips on my DW Commander and hold on tight.
