Train with it first ... especially if the 1911 (single action) platform is new to you ... and then decide. I carry condition one (cocked and locked) but it is not right for everybody. I shoot a lot...

Could be just a burr in the mag release mechanism. Take it out and do a thorough inspection. Also look at the frame (hole where mag release came out of) for burrs too. An easy piece to exchange...
