extending a dust cover

I have a CCO conversion project I am working on. One issue I have is there is a gap between the end of the frame and the begining of the slide where you can see the recoil spring. The gap is only about 1/4", but it really bugs me.

The set-up uses a reverse plug, and I have hand turned one that has a flange that hides the gap, but I don't love that look either.

What I really want to do is weld about 1/2"-3/4" of dust cover to the end of the frame, blend it back in, sand-blast and parkerize. Troube is finding a donor section of the dust cover portion of a 1911 frame.

Any idea where I might get that? The frame is a carbon steel Para P12 frame. (And yes, I have considered the possibility of complications in welding a cast frame, and am willing to take the risk).

Caspian sells flawed frame sections for cheap. Call them and tell them what you want.

Thanks. I will give Caspian a call tomorrow AM.
